In HR, relocation refers to work-related transfers abroad that are organized by the transferee’s company. They can either be a temporary secondment, or they can be of unlimited duration for which the transferee will usually sign a local work contract. Relocation support may also be needed when talents are recruited abroad.
A relocator or relocation agency works closely with HR and the transferee to make a planned relocation run smoothly. The routine in conducting formalities as well as the experience and knowledge of local on-site consultants saves costs and time.
